Legislators are held to a certain ethical standard, and they have a responsibility to be transparent, especially when spending taxpayer dollars. This incident is certainly concerning, and I call upon Representative Hernandez to tell the truth and take accountability for what happened.

The findings outlined in the recent New Mexico Department of Justice report on CYFD are deeply troubling and, frankly, heartbreaking. What should be a system designed to protect our most vulnerable children has, in too many cases, failed them when they needed it most.

Heather Ellison is running for State House because she's lived the struggles of District 4 families. With over 35 years in education, deep roots in the community, and a commitment to Faith, Freedom, and Family, she's determined to fight for quality education, public safety, and accountable leadership in Santa Fe.
